Six people in Tacoma were displaced Tuesday after a fire tore through the duplex where they lived in the city’s Stadium District.
Firefighters were called shortly after 9 a.m. to a building in the 600 block of North K Street where thick white smoke and flames could be seen from the back of the duplex.
Crews spent more than an hour battling the blaze, which crept into the attic space and threatened nearby utility wires.
No one was home when the fire started. A cause has not been determined.
The American Red Cross was helping four of the six people displaced by the fire.
