Tacoma cold case to be featured on TV show

A 1986 murder in Tacoma will be featured Sunday on the TV show “On the Case with Paula Zahn.”

The episode, called “Blurred Truth,” will tell the story of Carol Davidson’s death. The homicide remained a cold case for 28 years before new DNA testing linked her slaying to a convicted rapist in 2013.

Christopher Leon Smith was sentenced to 33 years in prison for binding, beating and strangling Davidson the night of Aug. 29, 1986. One of Davidson’s daughters found her body when she returned home the next day.

The hourlong show will air at 10 p.m. Sunday on Investigation Discovery (ID).
