2-year-old hit by vehicle in Lakewood, expected to survive

A 2-year-old boy hit by a vehicle as he chased a ball into a Lakewood street Thursday was expected to survive, police said.

A 33-year-old driver hit the toddler about 7:15 p.m. in the 8600 block of 63rd Avenue Southwest, police spokesman Chris Lawler said.

The child was alert and conscious when emergency crews arrived and took him to Madigan Army Medical Center, where he was stable and expected to live.

The man driving the vehicle had a suspended license, Lawler said. Police didn’t suspect him of being intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Lakewood police traffic specialists investigated.
