Shooting on Tacoma’s Ruston Way injures one

A young man suffered a head wound Friday after being shot on Tacoma’s Ruston Way.

The shooting occurred about 8:15 p.m.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said a group of 10-12 people was gathered in the 3300 block of Ruston Way when a dispute of some kind broke out. Someone pulled out a gun and fired two shots, at least one of which struck a young man, Cool said. The victim’s friend drove him a few blocks away and called 911.

The victim was taken to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries was unknown late Friday, but Cool said he was able to talk when officers arrived.

Witnesses said the shooter was a Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s, about 6 feet tall and thin. He drove away in a 1990s Honda two-door.
