The state’s judicial watchdog has censured a part-time Federal Way judge, concluding she underreported income from her duties on the bench and claimed unemployment benefits she didn’t deserve.
Holly Johnson, who in 2013 was a part-time judge in Federal Way Municipal Court and King County District Court, underreported her judicial income on 20 occasions, according to a statement released Friday by the 11-member state Commission on Judicial Conduct. Johnson acknowledged her actions, and accepted the finding of a censure.
“(Johnson) knowingly withheld material facts to which she was not entitled, and was at fault in causing the overpayment, which is considered fraud,” the commission’s statement said.
The finding means Johnson cannot seek a judicial office or perform judicial duties without permission from the commission.
