A convicted sex offender who volunteered to babysit children in his Lake Tapps neighborhood pleaded guilty Friday to production, possession and distribution of child pornography.
Caleb Eccles, 32, also known as Caleb Eckoles, will be sentenced Aug. 14. He faces at least 25 years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Eccles came to the attention of law enforcement in October 2013 after creating an account on a website known for trading child pornography.
Within five months, Eccles uploaded videos of him molesting a 10-year-old boy and several sexually explicit photographs of the child.
This is not his first offense.
Eccles was convicted in Florida in 2002 of 63 child pornography offenses and sentenced to 10 years of probation.
He moved to Lake Tapps and used the name “Eckoles” so he wouldn’t have to register as a sex offender, prosecutors said.
After volunteering to be a babysitter, he “made acquaintances” with families in his neighborhood, prosecutors said.
“Eccles admits in his plea agreement that he sought to have access to young boys so that he could sexually abuse them and record the sexual abuse using his phone and other electronic devices,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
