Puyallup tribal police traffic stop leads to chase up I-5

A police chase had part of Interstate 5 in Tukwila blocked for more than an hour Monday morning.

Troopers pinned the driver between their cars just north of the Southcenter Boulevard on ramp.

Troopers said the crash started with a driver trying to get away from a Puyallup tribal police officer after a possible reckless driving and DUI stop.

When troopers spotted the fleeing driver, he was driving without his headlights on, the State Patrol said.

Police chased the driver all the way to the Southcenter area on northbound I-5.
