Crews respond to inner-tuber trapped on Carbon River

UPDATE as of 9 p.m. A pregnant women trapped in the river near 145th Street East and state Route 162 was taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital as CPR was in progress, Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

A male neighbor and another man both tried to rescue her, Troyer said. Swiftwater rescue crews responded.

Further details were not immediately available.

INITIAL POST: Crews took a Carbon River inner-tuber to the hospital Sunday, after the person got trapped under a log, according to Orting Valley Fire and Rescue.

The person was with two other inner-tubers before the incident.

Multiple agencies responded about 3 p.m. north of Orting, and used a chainsaw to get the trapped person out.

Orting Valley Fire and Rescue said it could not provide further information, due to privacy laws.
