A Pierce County man is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl he met online, according to charging papers.
John Stenger, 27, is charged with second-degree rape of a child, three counts of communication with a minor for immoral purposes, and second-degree possession of child pornography.
Court records give this account:
Stenger and the girl wrote each other over social media and texted. He picked her up at her home and brought her to his place March 14, where they had sex.

She had said she was 18 when he asked, but the next day Stenger learned she was 13 and called a hotline for missing children.
A sheriff’s deputy came, and the girl was taken home.
Later, Stenger sent sexually inappropriate messages to the girl’s phone, which were seen by her mother.
Investigators also found inappropriate photos Stenger and the girl exchanged before they met in person.
His arraignment is scheduled for July 2. Court records did not list an attorney for him.
