Party at Tacoma residence took a turn when dispute led to gunshots, police say

A party Monday night at a home in Tacoma’s Eastside neighborhood took a frightening turn when a dispute over a person being asked to leave led to gunshots outside the home, according to police.

No one was injured, but two occupied homes near the 6500 block of South Bell Street — about a block away from Pacific Avenue — were hit, according to Tacoma Police Department.

Police were called to that area just before 9 p.m. for a report of shots fired. Spokesperson Wendy Haddow said party-goers had been drinking, and one person who didn’t live at the home was asked to leave. She said this led to a dispute outside the home between two women, and one fired off a few rounds.

Haddows said police don’t believe the woman was aiming her gun at anyone in particular.

By the time officers arrived, Haddow said, the women involved had left. Police are continuing to investigate.
