Woman drowns in Spanaway Lake

A woman who drowned Tuesday in Spanaway Lake during an evening swim with friends has been identified as Fa’atea Sosi.

The 38-year-old Fife woman was at Spanaway Park with friends when they decided to dip into the water about 7:30 p.m.

Witnesses said Sosi appeared to be in distress and slipped under the surface for roughly 20 seconds before bystanders came to her aid.

Other swimmers brought her to shore on a raft and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Sosi was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she died an hour later.
