State troopers seek suspect in hit-and-run wreck in Sumner that seriously injured woman
Washington State Patrol troopers are seeking help from the public to identify and locate a driver who hit a woman’s car Tuesday afternoon in Sumner, forcing her into another lane where she struck a cement truck.
The hit-and-run wreck occurred at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday on westbound state Route 410, near the ramp to state Route 167, according to a WSP news release. Troopers said a 42-year-old Bonney Lake woman was approaching the interchange in a Honda Accord when the driver of a dark-colored passenger car merged onto the highway from Traffic Avenue.
The driver struck the Honda’s passenger side as it moved to the center lane, troopers said. The impact forced the Honda into the left lane. After it hit the cement truck, the Honda rotated around the front of the truck and hit a concrete barrier dividing eastbound and westbound traffic.
Troopers said the driver of the other car continued west on state Route 410.
Witnesses didn’t see the fleeing vehicle’s make or model, according to the release, and they weren’t able to provide investigators any description of its occupants. Anyone with information was asked to contact detective Travis Calton by calling 360-918-4032.
