A woman who was fatally shot in a car and later died in a Lakewood motel parking lot Monday has been identified.

Leslie Crossley, 35 of Lakewood, died from a gunshot wound to the head on the 1500 block of Chicago Avenue Southwest. Her manner of death was listed as a homicide, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Crossley was in the passenger seat of another woman’s car when she was shot on Jan. 22. Police were dispatched at 6:55 p.m. to a call of shots fired on Chicago Avenue Southwest. Shortly after, a second 911 call was made when a woman reported that a passenger in her car was shot, according to a Lakewood Police Department news release from Monday.

The driver of the car pulled into the parking lot of a hotel in the 11700 block of Pacific Highway. When officers arrived, they found Crossley in the car with gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were taken, but she died. The driver was not injured, the release said.

Officers learned that the woman’s vehicle was associated with the shots-fired call on Chicago. Multiple shell casings were found on the roadway there, the release said.

No one has been arrested.
