A man who allegedly kept Tacoma’s Pacific Avenue corridor supplied with fentanyl, methamphetamine and heroin was arrested Friday as he made a return trip to Washington from the Mexico border region with a new supply of drugs along with guns and “cop killer” ammunition, according to Tacoma police.

The Police Department’s patrol and investigations division investigated who they called a major narcotics trafficker based in Tacoma. Investigators found the suspect had connections with Mexican drug cartel members.

The arrest and subsequent execution of a search warrant found:

83 pounds of methamphetamine.

87,000 fentanyl pills.

Nearly half a pound of brown tar heroin.

The drugs had an estimated value of $550,000, according to police

The suspect also was carrying a handgun loaded with armor-piercing bullets, sometimes referred to as “cop-killer bullets.”

A search of the suspect’s residence found four other firearms, two of which were reported stolen. Two semi-automatic 5.56 caliber rifles had been modified into “pistol” configurations, police said. More armor-piercing ammunition was also found in the residence.
