Shooting in Tacoma leaves one man dead. No arrests have been made, police say

A homicide investigation is underway after a man died in Tacoma from a shooting early Friday.

Officers were dispatched just before 1 a.m. to the 1300 block of South G Street for reports of gunfire. A man who suffered an apparent gunshot wound was found at the scene, according to a Tacoma Police Department news release.

Lifesaving measures were initiated until Tacoma Fire Department personnel arrived to take the man to a local hospital, the release said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Detectives and crime-scene technicians are investigating the shooting as a homicide, the release said. There have been no arrests made.

Police urge anyone with information about the shooting to contact the department.
