Man arrested in fatal Federal Way drive-by shooting

A 21-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a shooting last week in Federal Way that killed a 20-year-old man and hurt two others, according to Federal Way police.

Muldhata Dawud was in a car with five other people near the 32800 block of First Avenue South just after 1 a.m. July 30 when another man drove up alongside and opened fire, police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said.

Three young men, including Dawud, were in the back seat of the car. The other two, ages 18 and 19, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Dawud’s friend Zakariya Issa, 20, was fatally shot in Seattle on Friday while walking home from a prayer service for Dawud. The shootings aren’t believed to be connected.

The man arrested Wednesday was held on suspicion of first-degree murder and first-degree assault.
