Apparent pipe bombs found when police stop 18-year-old in Auburn

Pipe bombs were found in an 18-year-old’s car after a police pursuit, Auburn police said.

Officers got a complaint related to property damage at a new construction site on 51st Place South in Auburn.

About 9 a.m., officers saw a vehicle matching the description of one mentioned in the property damage report.

When police tried to pull the car over, it took off and the 18-year-old suspect fled from his car a few blocks away.

An officer stopped him and took the man into custody.

When the car was searched, police found what appeared to be two pipe bombs.

The pipe bombs were diffused, and the suspect’s car was towed.
