A 17-year-old boy accused of pointing a gun at a fellow student outside Foss High School on Monday has yet to be found, Tacoma police said Wednesday.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool gave an updated account of what happened:

The teen got into a disagreement with a 16-year-old boy about 12:30 p.m. Monday. The younger boy told school staff members the 17-year-old had not threatened him, and that it was just an argument.

The older boy was expelled and left the school.

Later asked whether the student had been expelled as a result of the argument, Tacoma Public Schools spokesman Dan Voelpel said he couldn’t talk about an individual student’s disciplinary case.

“The student came back onto campus (Monday) after being expelled,” Voelpel said. “The way the Police Department described the incident to us, the student drove up in a car, displayed a weapon and drove away.”

The 16-year-old ran into the school office at the end of the school day and said the 17-year-old had just pulled a gun on him outside the front door. Another student gave the same account.

At that point, the 16-year-old said the older teen had threatened him during the earlier argument, but without a weapon.

Everyone at Foss High for after-school activities went into lockdown after the report of the gun, Voelpel said.
