Sex offender registrations

The following convicted sex offenders have recently registered to live in Pierce County.

Each is categorized as a Level 3 sex offender — those considered most likely to commit similar crimes. None is wanted by law enforcement officers at this time.

All convicted sex offenders registered to live in Tacoma and Pierce County are listed on the Sheriff’s Department’s website at piercesheriff.org.

Afrian T. Abram

Age: 29.

Description: 5 feet 4 and 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Where registered to live: 1600 block of East 64th Street, Tacoma.

Criminal history: Convicted in 2004 of third-degree rape in Pierce County for sexually assaulting three women sleeping at his home.

Sex offender treatment: Did not participate in a treatment program while incarcerated.

Dedrick D. Buffington

Age: 32.

Description: 5 feet 10 and 180 pounds, black hair and brown eyes.

Where registered to live: 1900 block of South M Street, Tacoma.

Criminal history: Convicted in 2003 of third-degree child rape in King County for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl. Convicted of failing to register as a sex offender eight times from 2003 to 2011.

Sex offender treatment: Did not participate in a treatment program while incarcerated.

Robert T. Hamilton

Age: 50.

Description: 5 feet 10 and 260 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Where registered to live: Transient in Pierce County.

Criminal history: Convicted in 1993 of second-degree rape in Pierce County for breaking into a woman’s apartment, raping her and ransacking her home.

Sex offender treatment: Participated in a treatment program while incarcerated.

Nicholas B. Winterberger

Age: 21.

Description: 5 feet 8 and 175 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Where registered to live: Transient in Pierce County.

Criminal history: Convicted in 2009 of third-degree assault with sexual motivation for sexually assaulting two girls, ages 9 and 10, and a 5-year-old boy. Convicted in 2013 of third-degree child rape for sexually assaulting a teenage girl he met through counseling and whose family allowed him to live on their property.

Sex offender treatment: Unclear whether he participated in a treatment program while incarcerated.
