Sex offender registrations in Pierce County

The following convicted sex offenders have recently registered to live in Pierce County.

Each is categorized as a Level 3 sex offender — those considered most likely to commit similar crimes. None is wanted by law enforcement officers at this time.

All convicted sex offenders registered to live in Tacoma and Pierce County are listed on the Sheriff’s Department’s website at piercesheriff.org.

Shawn A.B. Hamilton

Age: 27.

Description: 5 feet 8 and 320 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Where registered to live: Transient in Pierce County.

Criminal history: Convicted 2004 of first-degree child molestation in Pierce County when he sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl.

Sex offender treatment: Participated in a treatment program while incarcerated.

Derrick M. Simon

Age: 44.

Description: 5 feet 11 and 170 pounds, black hair and brown eyes.

Where registered to live: 19800 block of 16th Avenue Court East, Spanaway.

Criminal history: Convicted in 2004 of indecent liberties with forcible compulsion and first-degree promoting prostitution in King County for harboring a 12-year-old runaway, having sex with her and trying to prostitute her. Convicted in 1994 of second-degree rape in King County for beating and raping a 17-year-old girl.

Sex offender treatment: Did not participate in a treatment program while incarcerated.

Matthew T. Wetherington

Age: 24.

Description: 6 feet and 233 pounds, brown hair with hazel eyes.

Where registered to live: 2500 block of Fawcett Avenue, Tacoma.

Criminal history: Convicted in 1998 of first-degree child molestation in Pierce County for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy. Convicted in 2001 of burglary, assault and unlawful imprisonment with sexual motivation in Pierce County for breaking into a neighbor’s home, restraining an 11-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her.

Sex offender treatment: Participated in a treatment program while incarcerated.
