A 14-year-old in a stolen car led troopers on a high-speed pursuit Thursday before crashing into two other vehicles in Tacoma, according to the state patrol.

The chase started about 6:45 a.m. after the teen drove by a trooper on southbound Interstate 5 going 77 mph in a 60 mph zone. Troopers pursued the car for about 10 minutes until it struck two other vehicles in the intersection of Pioneer Way East and Waller Road East.

One of the drivers involved in the collision was taken to Tacoma General Hospital as a precaution. No major injuries were reported. “The young man has been arrested for the stolen vehicle,” trooper Todd Bartolac said. He is expected to be booked into Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center.

It’s unclear where the teen obtained the stolen car.
