A surveillance camera captured video of a woman who walked off with a tip jar from a coffee shop in Fife, and police hope she can be identified.

The theft happened about 3:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at a coffee shop in the 4700 block of Pacific Highway East, Detective Jeff Nolta said. Employees estimated the jar contained about $40.

The woman waited for a barista to turn around, then opened a large handbag with white, blue and green patterning and stuffed the container inside, the video shows.

She then moved an object over the container to hide it and left the store 10 seconds later.

“The more people see it, the better chance we have,” Nolta said of the video. “This is pretty brazen.”

The woman has long brown hair and an average build, and was wearing a turquoise sundress and sandals.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 253-922-6633.
