1 killed, 1 wounded in shooting at SeaTac motel

One man was killed and another injured after a shooting outside a SeaTac motel late Wednesday, according to the King County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were called about 10 p.m. to a Motel 6 in the 18900 block of 47th Avenue South after several guests reported hearing a fight and gunshots.

One man, who has not been identified, was found dead in the parking lot.

Another man was shot in the back by a stray bullet as he stepped out of the shower in his room. He was not involved in the incident.

Investigators said the gunman, who is not in custody, did not know the victims.

The victim killed in the parking lot was in town with two co-workers working on a construction project, sheriff’s spokesman Cindi West said.

His co-workers heard the victim arguing in the parking lot before the gunman pulled out a handgun and shot him twice in the chest.

Witnesses said the gunman then got into a dark-colored, older car. He was described as a black man in his 20s wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

The man who was shot in his room is reportedly in good condition.

Still wearing his hospital gown, he told KIRO-TV that he’s lucky to be alive and is glad his mother, who was also in their first-floor motel room, wasn’t hurt.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the King County Sheriff’s Department at 206-296-3311.
