Interim leader selected

at Gig Harbor Academy

Gig Harbor Academy has selected Paul Raschke as the interim head of school.

Raschke has 31 years of experience in independent school education. He has held school leadership positions in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in independent schools in Japan, Tunisia, Qatar, Lebanon and, most recently, China.

Raschke holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Miami and a doctorate from the University of Minnesota. His appointment is effective immediately.

Hiring superintendent to be topic of Fife meeting

The Fife School Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the board room of the district office, 5802 20th St. E.

The board will discuss issues related to filling the superintendent’s vacancy. John McCrossin, the district’s superintendent for just over a year, died Aug. 26.

Steilacoom district seeks goal-setting help

The Steilacoom School District is asking the community to help develop 2014-15 goals for the district strategic plan.

The public is invited to four planning sessions. All meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Professional Development Center, 511 Chambers St.:

Tuesday: Family and community involvement, as well as food services.

Thursday: Resource management.

Sept. 16: Teaching and learning.

Sept. 17: Safety, service and support.

Clover Park meeting rescheduled to Sept. 15

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Clover Park School District board of directors has been moved to Sept. 15. It will begin at 5 p.m. at the Student Services Center, 10903 Gravelly Lake Drive SW, Lakewood.

The agenda will include a report of student state assessment results and retention of students in grades 9-12. For more information, call 253-583-5190.
