Lockdown at Federal Way High School ends with one person in police custody

Federal Way Police arrested an 18-year-old part-time Federal Way High School student Thursday following reports of threats that sparked a lockdown at the school.

The school was locked down for about 60 minutes Thursday morning after school officials learned of threats made by text message Wednesday night.

Police said the female suspect was arrested on suspicion of felony harassment.

According to police, a 17-year-old girl showed evidence of the threat to a school resource officer. School district spokeswoman Deb Stenberg said the school went into lockdown shortly after 10 a.m., following reports that the student making the threats had been seen on campus.

Police searched the school but did not find the 18-year-old. They found her at the Federal Way Transit Center and took her into custody.
