School districts, even some from out of state, to gather at Tacoma Dome for career fair
Those seeking school district jobs in the area might want to check out a career fair next week at the Tacoma Dome.
The Washington Educator Career Fair, organized by the Washington School Personnel Association, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 22 at the Tacoma Dome, 2727 E. D St.
Districts from across the state will be in attendance, including Tacoma Public Schools.
Out-of-state participants with separate interview booths include Anchorage School District of Alaska and Sierra Sands Unified School District of California. Districts from Idaho, Nevada and Oregon also will be in attendance.
“Districts are looking for a confident, upbeat and positive person who truly is passionate about serving children,” the event site noted in its FAQ.
A handful of colleges and some private/charter schools also are on the participants’ list.
All of this is in hopes of tackling the ongoing staffing shortages school districts nationwide have faced even before the pandemic. WSPA also planned for a similar fair March 15 in Spokane.
According to the Tacoma event page, masks are optional, COVID vaccination cards are not required, and negative COVID test results are not required.
Online registration is $25, or $40 the day of the event at the Dome. Online registration closes March 18.
