Nearly 50 Pierce County schools will be honored as recipients of the Washington Achievement Award at a ceremony on April 28 at Spanaway Lake High School in Spanaway.
They are among the 401 winners statewide being recognized for being top performers in one or more of six categories: overall excellence, high progress, reading growth, math growth, extended graduation rate and English language acquisition.
The awards are based on three years of academic information as reported in the Washington Achievement Index, which was approved for use in 2014 by the State Board of Education.
