Harborstone collecting back-to-school supplies through Aug. 19

Harborstone Credit Union is sponsoring a back-to-school supply drive through Aug. 19.

New school supplies, including crayons, markers, pencils, erasers, backpacks, thumb drives and paper, can be dropped off at any Harborstone Credit Union location.

Schools that will benefit from the drive include Carter Lake Elementary and Park Lodge Elementary in the Clover Park School District; Giaudrone Middle School in Tacoma; and all schools in need in the Peninsula School District.

Bartell Drugs schedules school-supply drive

Bartell Drugs is sponsoring a school supply drive through Aug. 28 that will benefit 160 schools in Pierce, King and Snohomish counties through World Vision’s Teacher Resource Center in Fife.

Donated items will help stock the center, where teachers “shop” for free for supplies to help qualifying students. Suggested items to donate include pens and pencils, glue and glue sticks, markers and crayons, and paper and spiral notebooks.

Hope Church to host barbecue, school supply giveaway Aug. 19

Hope Church plans a South Tacoma Neighborhood barbecue and school supply giveaway.

Free school supplies will be available for students at Mary Lyon, Blix, Whitman and Sheridan elementary schools, and Stewart Middle School.

A free hot dog dinner is offered, and a bounce house and Safe Streets Child ID kits will be available. It will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Aug. 19 at 154 S. 46th St.
