On Monday morning, the Washington State Department of Transportation tweeted an image of a Star Wars All Terrain Armored Transport (one of those walking tanks the bad guys used in “The Emprire Strikes Back”) crashing into the snow.

Above the gif flashed the word “Monday” and the agency added “Today feels as Monday as a Monday's felt in awhile. But hopefully that means things can only get better. Let's be safe out there!” The morning commute has had some gnarly moments on Interstate 5, especially in and around Tacoma.

A collision on Northbound I-5 near the Port of Tacoma Road and Milepost 136 blocked two lanes before 5:45 a.m. At about the same time a car fire on southbound I-5 blocked two lanes near Milepost 130. A short time later a collision on Northbound I-5 near Milepost 133 blocked the left lane.

A fourth accident blocked part of the Gravely Lake Road off ramp in Lakewood.

All of the accidents are cleared according to the DOT’s Tacoma Twitter feed.
