UPDATE: The incident has been cleared from the road, WSDOT announced at 10:31 a.m.

ORIGINAL POST: Traffic on southbound Interstate 5 is backed up for four miles as authorities respond to an incident near the Pierce-Thurston county line, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The backup started at 9:14 after a wreck, the agency tweeted. The right lane is blocked and traffic has been reduced to one lane.

"Give yourself some extra time to get through the area," the agency tweeted.
