UPDATE as of Monday: The Steilacoom-DuPont closures will be postponed 24 hours, to 8 p.m. Tuesday until 4 a.m. Wednesday, due to forecast rain.
INITIAL POST: Construction will close lanes of state Route 509 in Tacoma and Interstate 5 on-ramps in the DuPont area this week, the state Department of Transportation said.
Crews will take out the sidewalk and ADA ramps on part of state Route 509 in Tacoma, eventually from Alexander Avenue to Norpoint Way.
As they modify the ramps and replace the pavement at Alexander Avenue and Taylor Way this week, the right lane of north SR 509 will be closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday (June 16) through Thursday. Friday the work will end at noon.

On the southbound highway, the right lane will be closed 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
Further south, the Steilacoom-DuPont on-ramps to both directions of Interstate 5 will close from 8 p.m. Monday (June 16), until 4 a.m. Tuesday. Drivers should instead use the Center Drive on-ramps.
Crews will be paving the ramps as part of a project to install technology on the freeway between state Routes 510 and 512, such as ramp meters, traffic cameras, and a message sign.
Daytime shoulder closures and single and double nighttime lane closures on I-5 will be required this summer for the project.
