CLEARED: Crash on I-5 near JBLM gate causing backups

A two-car collision on Interstate 5 near the Joint Base Lewis-McChord main gate is causing major backups, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident happened just before 10 a.m.

Trooper Guy Gill said none of the injuries are life-threatening.

One car is in the southbound lane; the other vehicle is in the northbound lane.

Backups are estimated to be about one mile in each direction.

UPDATE as of 11:15 a.m.: The accident has been cleared.
