Drivers in Tacoma might want to avoid Interstate 5 on Saturday night. Just one northbound traffic lane will be open.

Crews working for the state Department of Transportation will be repairing roadway surfaces for 12 hours.

The one-night closure will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday and last until 8 a. m. Sunday. The closure will begin at South 38th Street, WSDOT said.

The northbound City Center exit (133) also will close overnight. Northbound travelers headed onto Interstate 705 can detour onto Portland Avenue, get back onto southbound I-5 and then exit to state Route 7 or I-705.

Drivers wishing to exit state Route 16 onto northbound I-5 will need to detour to SR 7, exit onto South 38th Street, return to SR 7 and onto northbound I-5.
