A man died in a fatal crash Monday morning on state Route 7 when he drove in the wrong lane and struck a work van.

One of the drivers involved in a head-on crash on state Route 7 near Eatonville died Monday morning.

The man was driving south in the northbound lane when his car hit a work van at Mile Post 29, Washington State Patrol trooper John Dattilo said on X.

The vehicles were traveling in a 50 mph zone and the speed added to the impact. The driver of the van was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, Dattilo told The News Tribune..

The road is closed at this time as the investigation continues.
