Update: Road reopened after multi-car, serious injury crash in Puyallup blocks traffic

Update:

River Road has reopened to traffic in all directions, after the completion of the serious collision investigation, the Puyallup Police Department posted on X at 5:18 p.m.

A multi-car, serious injury crash has closed a Puyallup road on Friday.

Eastbound River Road is closed between 11th Street Northwest and 7th Street Northwest. All eastbound lanes will be closed for some time in addition to one westbound lane, according to the Puyallup Police Department.

The police department first reported the crash on X at 2:08 p.m. and asked drivers to avoid the area.

“Alternate routes advised for the evening commute- it’s going to be tough,” the police department said in a 3:06 p.m. update.

Central Pierce Fire & Rescue posted on X at 2:05 p.m. that crews responded to a three-car accident at the 800 block of River Road, with assistance from the Puyallup Police Department. They transported two adults to local hospitals, according to the post.
