The Hylebos Bridge on the Tacoma Tideflats is closed to car traffic again.

A technical malfunction has prompted the city to close the Hylebos Bridge to car traffic Monday.

The drawbridge that carries East 11th Street over the Hyelebos Waterway in the Tacoma Tideflats remains in its open position to allow cargo ships to traverse the waterway, according to the City of Tacoma.

The city said it is working with contracting crews to repair the issue and would share more information as it becomes available.

The bridge was closed to cars for nearly a month earlier this year, re-opening just last month, because of the failure of an underwater-cable system.
