Traffic is backed up in the Puyallup area after a box truck struck a cable barrier Tuesday afternoon.

The driver was on state Route 512 eastbound near South Meridian when they struck the cable barrier after experiencing possible brake failure, Washington State Patrol Trooper John Dattilo told The News Tribune. The left lane is blocked.

The crash was reported at 2:37 p.m., according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

No one was injured or impaired, Dattilo said.

The crash may take a while to clear up as tow trucks make their way to the scene.

Wednesday update: There is about a five mile back up Wednesday morning on state Route 512 near Meridian as WSDOT crews work to repair the damaged guardrail. The lane lane is still closed.
