Nighttime lane closures set for I-5 in Tacoma
Nighttime traffic might see delays on Interstate 5 through Tacoma this week.
The state Department of Transportation said the southbound freeway will be reduced to one lane from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 25) and Wednesday in the Tacoma area.
The closures are part of a project to add a new High Occupancy Vehicle lane to each direction of the freeway.
Crews will reduce northbound traffic to one lane from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday.
Drivers will be detoured through interchanges during the closures.
There will also be lane closures this week on both directions of I-5 between M Street and the Port of Tacoma Road in Fife, the Transportation Department said.
Various ramps will also have nighttime closures this week.
