A 2-year-old girl was killed after she fell out of a moving vehicle and was struck by another in Washington, police said.

The child fell out of a vehicle in Everett on April 8, KIRO-TV reported.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m., The Everett Herald reported.

When the toddler flew out, she landed on the roadway and the vehicle behind struck her, according to My Everett News.

People in both vehicles cooperated with police, the outlet reported.

The driver who hit the child will not face charges, KIRO-TV reported.

“When you have a child that small, we highly recommend, and you’re legally required to, keep your child in a car seat and just make sure that they are secured in there, buckled in and that you have child safety locks and the windows are up,” Everett police officer Kerby Duncan told the outlet.

Everett is about 28 miles north of Seattle.
