Two close friends never returned from an outdoor trip in Oregon and have been missing for three weeks, police said.

Now, police are asking the public for help finding Eddie Curtis Hair, 67, and Scott Jon Smith, 68, who have been missing since Sept. 13, the Beaverton Police Department said in an Oct. 3 Facebook post.

The two men had plans to go on a trip “involving camping, hiking or searching for rare rocks,” police said.

They typically go to the Oregon coast or central Oregon.

A friend reported them missing when they never returned and couldn’t be reached, police said. Although authorities said they do not suspect foul play, “their extended absence is unusual and concerning.”

The two friends were last known to be driving in a 2005 red Jeep Wrangler with Oregon license plate 494 QKW, police said.

Anyone with information about Hair and Smith should contact detective Dan Maure 503-526-2280.
