Lakewood mayor, deputy to stay in jobs for 2 years

Lakewood Mayor Don Anderson and Deputy Mayor Jason Whalen were selected by the City Council Monday night to continue in their positions.

This will be the first full two-year term for Anderson and Whalen.

Anderson was first chosen as mayor in January 2013 to fill the vacancy left by long-time mayor Doug Richardson, who joined the Pierce County Council.

Anderson was elected to the Lakewood council in 2008 and was deputy mayor for five years. He’s been on the council longer than any other current member.

Whalen was selected as deputy mayor in 2013. He was elected to the council in 2010.
