Sound Transit appoints new acting CEO as agency’s leader continues medical leave

The Sound Transit Board Thursday approved Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mike Harbour as the acting head of the agency, as CEO Joni Earl is on medical leave.

Earl is recovering from surgery in late April for a brain injury, which resulted from a blood vessel leaking in her brain, the agency said on its website and in a release.

Harbour has been the deputy CEO since October 2012.

“Joni is uncertain when she may return so she supports this Board action ... ,” Harbour said in a statement. “I am honored to step into this role until Joni returns and want to relay her appreciation for our support as she recovers.”
