Some Pierce County ferry riders will see their fares drop Wednesday as rates for the nonpeak season go into effect for service between Steilacoom, Anderson Island and Ketron Island.
Rates for passengers driving vehicles 21 feet in length or less will decrease from the peak-season rate of $21.65 to the non-peak-season rate of $17.30. Rates for motorcyclists will drop from $11.65 to $9.30.
The five-trip value pass for vehicles 21 feet long or less will remain at $69.15. The five-trip value for motorcyclists also will remain unchanged at $37.20.
Rates for walk-on passengers are the same year-round: free for kids under age 6, $3.40 for youths age 6 to 18, $5.15 for adults age 19 to 64, and $2.55 for seniors and disabled passengers. Bicycles can be walked on at no extra charge.
