Those interested in the future of Point Defiance Park can attend the first of four public meetings Thursday.
Metro Parks Tacoma leaders will present a plan for the park that was crafted in 2008 with feedback collected at previous public meetings. Work on updating that plan and carrying out improvements to the park is ramping up after voters approved a $198 million parks bond issue last year.
Metro Parks expects to complete the master plan later this year before seeking the city of Tacoma’s approval to proceed with projects.
The first meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Point Defiance Pagoda, 5400 N. Pearl St. Future meetings will also be held at the pagoda at 6 p.m. on Feb. 26, March 26 and April 23.
