Drivers on Highway 16 through Gig Harbor will see more tree clearing this week.
Tacoma Narrows Constructors has pushed forward the construction of a new westbound onramp at 24th Street Northwest. As a result, approximately eight acres of trees between the golf center and the weigh station will be removed.
Part of the cleared land will be used for a stormwater-retention pond, according to the Department of Transportation, and will be revegetated.
Also this week, DOT said to expect a barricade to be placed across 22nd Avenue Northwest. The barrier will remain through early fall, when the rebuilt 36th Street Northwest and 22nd Street Northwest on-ramp is finished.
