Drivers headed east across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge will be slowed overnight tonight and Tuesday night so toll collectors can test their electronic equipment.
Traffic on eastbound Highway 16 near 36th Street Northwest will be funneled onto one lane and rerouted at 15 mph through the far-right lane in the tollbooth plaza.
Testing will take place from 11 tonight to 10 a.m. Sunday, and again from 9 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday. The state Department of Transportation says drivers should be prepared for delays of up to 30 minutes.
From 8 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday, travelers can expect single-lane closures across the bridge deck in both directions as crews paint the tower strut area above the roadway where seismic retrofit work was performed.
