Construction this week on the new Tacoma Narrows bridge:
The new Tacoma Narrows bridge has a holiday feel this week.
Crews strung red, blue, green lights along the catwalks of the new bridge. In addition, red and green lights adorn the tops of the two cranes working on the new bridge.
Christmas trees shaped out of white lights sit atop the towers of the bridge under construction.

Here is what will be happening with the new bridge this week:
Spinning crews building the south cable will string strands 12 and 13. Meanwhile, others will continue to clean, categorize and test the wire to see whether it’s been damaged by an outbreak of “white rust.”
Crews also will continue work on the seismic retrofitting of the existing east anchorage and the landscaping.
No lane or ramp closures are scheduled.
