Bridge Update

Construction this week on the new Tacoma Narrows bridge:

Roadways: The right lane of the westbound lanes will be closed on the Gig Harbor side of the existing bridge for 10 hours each night Monday through Friday. The closure will be around the 24th Street exit between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. as crews do landscape work.

Maintenance crews will close the two center lanes across the existing bridge from 10 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday, April 24 to replace the dividers between the eastbound and westbound lanes.

During the week, crews will be grinding the asphalt on the pavement between the eastbound and westbound lanes on the Tacoma side of the bridge.

Anchorages: Backfilling work will be done on the west anchorage during the week. Meanwhile, crews will remove the top deck form from the east anchorage.

Towers: Concrete pours are scheduled for the Gig Harbor tower Wednesday and Friday. In addition, crews will pour the top slab of the middle strut of the Gig Harbor tower Saturday. Crews will pour the bottom deck of the middle strut for the Tacoma tower Friday.

Traffic control alert: Flaggers will be along Stone Drive while crews add to the retaining wall. The flaggers will alternate the direction of traffic along the road.

Constructions crews will soon be raising the tower cranes.
