High winds toppled a tree onto a Marysville home, critically injuring a woman, Washington firefighters reported.
Firefighters responded at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, to reports that a fallen tree had trapped a woman inside a home near Marysville Pilchuck High School, the Marysville Fire District said on Twitter.
“You could see the tree had come through the rear of the house, people were crying, finally realized there was a girl that was upstairs in the bedroom and now she’s downstairs underneath the tree,” neighbor Rodney Peterson told KOMO.
The woman, who is “approximately” 20 years old, had been extricated by the time firefighters arrived, the department said. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
High winds and toppled trees left up to 300,000 people without power in western Washington, the Seattle Times reported.
Marysville is a city of 71,000 people about 35 miles north of Seattle.
