A person jumped onto a moving semi to evade deputies after a high-speed chase in Washington, authorities said.

The person was in a red Toyota Camry with two other people when deputies spotted the vehicle “driving recklessly” at 4:09 a.m. Dec. 11 in Orchards, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies said the vehicle had been reported stolen during a robbery in Portland the day before.

When deputies tried to stop the vehicle, the driver fled from authorities, reaching speeds of over 100 mph, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities used two sets of Stop Sticks to deflate the vehicle’s tires, deputies said.

Three people ran out of the car and into a Fred Meyer parking lot, deputies said. A Taser was used on two people who were later arrested.

A witness saw the third person clinging to the side of a semitruck as it left the area, deputies said.

The third person escaped and hasn’t been arrested, authorities said in the release.

Orchards, Washington, is about 20 miles northeast of Portland, Oregon.
